Becoming Marilyn Monroe for a Night
If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it’s definitely the power of manifestation—how much of what happens in our lives stems from the energy we put out into the world. One day, while riding a tram in Prague, I came across some photos of Marilyn Monroe. I remember thinking, Wow, what a beauty. That iconic look! I wish I could embody even a fraction of her elegance and femininity. Maybe I should try curls? Maybe I should embrace a more classic, glamorous style? Her timeless allure was simply captivating. Fast forward to the next day: I was sitting in a job interview, and I got the position. A few weeks later, an email landed in my inbox with an invitation to a company party. The theme? Hollywood Stars. 🌟 It felt like the universe was nudging me to step into that energy I’d admired so much. This was my chance to channel Marilyn, to shine, and I wasn’t about to let it pass me by. I took it seriously—and I embraced the moment fully. 💃
Despite getting a terrible case of food poisoning about two weeks before the party, I stuck to my plan. I wasn’t about to let anything get in the way of this. I found a stunning red vintage dress on Vinted and booked a makeup and hairstylist to help me perfect the look. Even though I had to be extra cautious with my stomach (and still do—what awful timing to deal with stomach issues right before the holidays!), I was determined to make it work. It’s been tough seeing all the festive treats around—cookies, eggnog, and other holiday sweets—and not being able to indulge. I’ll admit, it’s a bit of a downer. To top it off, I ended up losing some weight, which was the opposite of my goal. But hey, it is what it is. Even though I didn’t feel my absolute best that night, I still gave it my all. And honestly? I enjoyed being Marilyn as much as I possibly could. It was a night to remember, even though I had to leave before midnight.
Fun fact: The gloves weren’t originally part of the plan. My sweet coworker was searching for a nice evening purse or clutch, so during our lunch break, we stopped by a charming little shop nearby. There, sitting on display, was the very last pair of elegant red gloves—waiting just for me and perfectly matching the shade of my dress. I couldn’t resist, and I also found a gorgeous golden clutch to complete the look. Without even intending to, I managed to perfect the outfit. It felt like everything was meant to come together just this way. The gloves added so much charm to the overall look that I can’t even imagine the outfit without them now. They truly made it unforgettable!
Oh, and I know that Marilyn’s freckle is on the other side of her face—it’s intentional! My makeup artist said to me, “Hey, did you know you have a freckle on this side?” I had barely even noticed. She suggested, “Let’s highlight your natural freckle instead of creating a fake one.” And there you go!!
The outfit: Dress - a thrifted custom made piece from Vinted, shoes - from the U.S. (I believe Nordstrom Rack), clutch and gloves - Stoklasa, earrings - Vinted.
With all that being said, Marilyn, your legacy continues to endure. ❤️ You were truly one of a kind, and I’ve watched your life story and read so much about you with deep admiration. I hope you’re resting in peace while still dazzling everyone up there, showing them what a true woman is all about.
