Starfish & Spontaneous Snaps

The weather’s finally warming up and it’s starting to feel like summer is tiptoeing in, isn’t it? This past weekend, I found myself gravitating toward my comfy, airy dress—the kind you just want to float around in when you’re at home, windows open, and the breeze smells like green things waking up. Light, breathable fabrics have been saving me lately—linen, soft cotton, gauzy blends that feel like wearing a gentle cloud. One of those lazy afternoons, I threw on one of the new necklaces I just made—amber-colored mineral chips with this adorable little golden starfish. I was showing it to my boyfriend in the living room and next thing I know, he’s casually clicking away with the camera he just happened to be holding (as he does). And honestly? The snaps turned out kinda cute. Totally unplanned, but that’s when the best stuff happens, right?

I love when jewelry can be the focal point of a simple outfit. This necklace is such a statement piece. It totally elevated my easy home look—just a flowy dress, no shoes, messy hair, and a piece that sparkles just enough. I’ll share the photos below so you can get a peek. If you’re curious to see more of the pieces from ViolkaBeads, come hang out with me on Instagram. And if you don’t see the one you’ve fallen in love with on my Etsy, just shoot me a direct message. I’m happy to ship worldwide and I love connecting with people over a shared love of sparkly things. ✨

From Ugly-Comfy to Cute-Comfy

Let’s talk home wear for a second. I used to be 100% sweatpants-all-day, every day. But not the “cool girl” kind of sweats—the kind that are so soft and worn-in that they barely hold their shape anymore (you know the ones). Waistband kind of sad. Color? A mystery. You wouldn’t wear them to check the mail, let alone answer the door for the post office guy.

But lately, something shifted. For chilling days, I’ve started choosing pieces that still feel like comfort but look like I made a tiny bit of effort. And it actually makes me feel better—more awake, more ready for whatever the day throws at me. Like an unexpected guest. Or an impromptu photo session. Or just…feeling like myself, but slightly more elevated.

Tips for Picking the Perfect Cute-Comfy Home Wear

If you’re looking to slowly move from “ugh” to “ooh” in your lounge wardrobe, here are a few tips that helped me:

Go for Light & Airy: Think fabrics like linen, bamboo cotton, or muslin. They breathe and move with you, especially when the temperatures start rising.

Loose but Lovely: Oversized is still great, but maybe with a softer silhouette or a nice drape. A loose dress or romper can be just as cozy as sweats, but looks intentional.

Colors & Prints Matter: I’ve started reaching for earthy tones and subtle patterns—things that make me smile but don’t scream for attention.

Jewelry is Not Just for Going Out: Even a small charm necklace or a pair of earrings can lift your mood. And if you’re wearing a statement piece like my golden starfish necklace? Instant outfit.

Keep One Foot In Comfort: If it doesn’t feel good, it’s not worth it. The goal isn’t to dress up, it’s to feel more you.

I’d love to hear if you’ve been shifting your at-home style too. Are you team “ugly but comfy” or have you started exploring the cozy-but-cute side like I have?
