D.I.Y. Christmas Cards

Happy New Year, everyone! Am I late to the Christmas party here on the blog? ๐Ÿ™Š I totally missed all the dates for posting in time this (ehm, last??) year, oops! But it means that my Christmas was so busy that I didn't have a chance to share things yet, which is honestly a good change. I slowed down completely on the 20th of December (thank God I bought all the gifts online, in November). Lots of sleeping, lots of eating. Really did the traditional Czech Christmas this year. Potato salad and fried fish for the festive dinner. But I will write more about my holiday (and share more pictures from this time too) in my next post. Today, I want to show you the D.I.Y. that me and my friend Sendy decided to do, for the very first time. It was so fun! We set up a little (messy to be honest) ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ˜„ Santa's workshop in my studio and created many Christmas cards that we actually sent out to our friends and family all over the world. ✨ We did this 'artsy event' on a nice cozy Saturday - we started about 2 PM and finished around 10 PM! - I think neither of us expected that we will like this activity so much! But we each ended up making at least 6 or 7 cards. It was a wonderful afternoon. I have to say, most of the cards were inspired by the good ol' Pinterest. You can seriously find gold there when it comes to Christmas diy's. And how about you? Do you still write and send out the traditional paper cards for Christmas? Or do you do it the modern way (e-mail, WhatsApp, Snapchat etc.) ?

Gave these cards out during the Holidays and people loved them. There is nothing more thoughtful and sweeter than getting a handmade Christmas wish, speaking for myself. ๐Ÿ’Œ
Let's call this an 'organized chaos', okay? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
And these are some of our masterpieces.
Making of the red-nosed reindeer card. You can use a red button, a pom pom, or really anything you can think of, that can be glued to the paper.
Loved this idea. A little wood stick wrapped in a green cotton string, then glued to the aquarelle tree painting (wait for when it's dry). ๐ŸŽ„
A friendly tip: Always try the color shades on a separate paper, so you know how it's going to look like on the card.
I bought some fake snow spray but we did not end up using it for any card. It takes a lot of time for it to dry and doesn't even actually dry on some types of surfaces (including paper LOL).
Oh what fun! You can go all out! There are no rules when it comes to your own DIY projects.
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose (that he stole from my grandma's old blouse LOL).
It was such a nice, warm evening in a good company. We played the Christmas music, watched our favorite Czech movie Cozy dens (Pelรญลกky) on Netflix and drank a very tasty scented Christmas tea that Sendy brought. ❤️
Realized I forgot to color one part red on this one below. Will you find it? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I finished it later, after I took a photo, though.
It's up to you whether you want to do an aquarelle painting or crayons - which every you prefer.
Saw this idea a loooong time ago. Make sure you don't have too much paint on your fingertip. I would try it a few times on a different paper so you get a better idea how the specific paints work on your skin and paper.
Glitters are a must! They add that little sparkle to any card. You don't have to use much for it to make a statement!
Oh yeah, nachos snack was much needed! Put them on a plate, top with shredded cheddar cheese and put in a microwave for about 15 seconds. Yummy yum, goes perfect with a guacamole dip!
I recommend everyone to draw all the black lines with a pencil first, and have a rubber handy... because it could go wrong very quickly if you are not an artist. You would have to use a new paper and start all over again. Trust me, I made that mistake a few times. Pencil until you are sure about the lines! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Now let's appreciate this little guy in a mountain cabin! How cute?? ๐Ÿ˜Š⛰️ I used a different, thick vintage paper for the mountain tops.
You don't have to wait until the next Holidays. You can make a craft workshop like this with your friends literally ANYTIME! Get creative! ๐ŸŽจ
I think I spent more days of 2020 in my PJ or sweatpants than in my work clothes. Quarantine, lazy bum mood etc. I'm sure y'all can relate. ๐Ÿค— If you are wondering what's going on in the back, on my computer - no, I'm not Skyping while taking a photo - lol, I was just listening to a motivational video on Facebook from one of my favorite life coaches. Also right after taking this pic I found out there is a giant hole on one of the socks - I've had this pair for about 8 years. Sewn now and ready to be used again.๐Ÿ˜‰
I hope you enjoyed this post. Happy New Year 2021 and stay tuned for another post - it's gonna be soon! ๐Ÿ™Œ Take care, sending love and light to all of you! ✨ XO Zuzana
